Emmanuel Taiwo is a member of the Board of Trustees of the ITET Gem Foundation. A chartered environmental specialist with a professional background in climate, energy and environmental policy, Emmanuel has provided advisory services to international organizations such as the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office, Global Affairs Canada, and top-tier commercial banks and private equity firms across Nigeria on environmental risk. He led clean energy policy advocacy efforts for the German non-profit, Heinrich Boll Stiftung, and has worked on sustainability projects with the British International Investment plc in London and United Nations Environment Program in Nairobi.
With strong interests in youth development, Emmanuel was named a Senior Judge for the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition by the Royal Commonwealth Society in London in 2018, and presently serves as a Mentor for the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK. He holds a first class in Geography from the University of Lagos, completed a Master’s with Distinction at the University of Greenwich, and an MPP as an Africa Initiative for Governance Scholar at the University of Oxford where he was also inducted into the Oxford Global Leadership Initiative. A recipient of several scholarships and educational award schemes, Emmanuel considers the ITET Gem foundation an exciting opportunity to give back to some of Africa’s brightest and most talented young people. He is presently completing doctoral research in environmental science, and hold various esteemed fellowships with Massey College at the University of Toronto, Aula Fellowship for AI Science, Tech, and Policy, the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society, among others.
